My
first experience with a high speed buffer was just after I graduated from
high school when I worked for a Buick dealership. I can vividly remember
my first day on the job. I was handed a high-speed buffer, some cotton and
wool pads and pointed in the direction of my work station where a rather
dingy looking used car was parked and was told to "shine her up."
That was the extent of my training; unfortunately, an all too common scenario
that exists today.
Back in those days, paint was either enamel or lacquer. This was pretty
tough stuff by today's standards and also pretty hard to burn through, although
I managed to do it several times before perfecting my skills. It wasn't
until some thirty years later, after leaving the corporate life, that I
decided I wanted to create and hopefully patent a consumer product. Call
it fate--I prefer God's plan--the memories of my experience in that Buick
dealership came back to me along with an idea to make a buffing pad that
would be easy and foolproof to use. I didn't have a high-speed buffing machine
but I did have a 4" random orbit sander. I thought, "could this
be the solution I was after?." It was small, light-weight with random-orbit
action that could certainly help make the process of applying and buffing
hard surfaces foolproof.
A past memory and a 4" random orbit sander set in motion a two- year-long
quest in research and testing. A quest that has resulted in what has now
become our Surbuf®
with MicroFingers®
technology line of random orbit machine applicator and buffing pads
and our expanded line of multifunction hand-held products. Kjibe, Inc.
is committed to quality and looking forward to introducing new and innovative
products in the years to come.
